Dainty Doll | Mini Haul & Review ♥

Monday, 24 March 2014

Dainty Doll Blush (Shade 'Money Talks'/'03') | £1.99 (no longer available!) Dainty Doll Concealer Pen (Shade '03') | £1.99

Now I've been putting off doing this mini haul and review post because I really don't like writing negative things, however I can't keep putting it off. There is only one product that I could really curse at so it's NOT all negative and bad!

Dainty Doll was first released in 2010 by Nicola Roberts, I'm sure you guys know all about the brand itself, it was made to cater for those with paler complexions and it originally launched in Boots. It was quite ridiculously priced in my opinion, for example with the three items I bought, the blusher was originally £13.50, the concealer pen £12.50 and the mineral foundation was a whooping £19.50, I can't help but find that a little bit crazy?!

I already own one of the Dainty Doll blushes and I absolutely love it so I picked up another, this one is more of a bronzer but it's not orange at all. I wouldn't call it a blush (for me anyway) though. I've been enjoying using this to warm up my face slightly and even a little bit of subtle contouring for day to day wear. I wasn't disappointed, it's just as good as my DD blusher that I own!

Now the concealer, I don't even know where to start with this. I'm going to insert swatches of all products I got here, you NEED to see this so you really get the idea of the shade.
L-R: Blusher (Money Talks), Concealer (03), Mineral Foundation (02)
Now please, correct me if I'm wrong here, but being a pale girl and the entire range being aimed at pale complexions, WHY THE HELL IS THIS CONCEALER ORANGE?! It's even darker than the bronzer! I genuinely thought that I'd be fine with the 03 shade since the whole range is pale, there is a massive difference between the mineral foundation and the concealer considering there is only a single shade difference - I do not understand.

Anyway, leading on to the foundation - firstly, the applicator it comes with is possibly the worst thing I have ever tried to put anything on my face with. It doesn't work. It's a little tube that disperses the powder onto the brush, and whilst the concept is there, it fails. I emptied mine into an old mineral foundation pot I had laying around (I did this before I took photos hence the empty pot! Oops!) BUT this mineral foundation is actually pretty good, relatively easy to build up an average coverage and it isn't orange! It does leave me getting oily within around 3-4 hours though but my skin is horrifically oily. Overall I am pretty happy with the mineral foundation!

So other than the horrendously ORANGE concealer, I am pretty impressed with what I've got.
How have you got along/or not with Dainty Doll products?

  1. I've tried a couple of the cream and powder blushes and really liked them. I bought three of the lipsticks too, when they were all £1.99 at fragrance direct last year although I've not tried them yet :D I bought shade 3 for the concealer too, as I saw a swatch for 1 and it was WHITE! So I thought 3 would be perfect haha xx
